Act as trainers/advisors to the MSOC SIGINT Marines. The SME will follow the activities of one SIGINT Marine attached to the MSOT. The SME will conduct SIGINT specific equipment training, advise the Marine on the employment of this equipment and provide advice on the best tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) to use during each of the mission sets. The Signals Intelligence Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) shall train and guide the SIGINT Marines of the MSOC during the MRX.
General Support for Signals Intelligence Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) shall provide SME coordination with G7 personnel, particularly the G-7 Intelligence Officer and G-7 SIGINT Chief.
The SIGINT SMEs must possess a final adjudicated Top Secret clearance with SCI access. They must be able to discuss operations and capabilities at the TS/SCI level. SIGINT SMEs shall:
Possess an understanding of SOF SIGINT capability to include tactical collections, static tethered collections, direction finding, precision geo-location and national SIGINT collection capabilities.
Instruct MSOC SIGINT Marines on the proper operation and employment of organic SOF SIGINT collection equipment to include but not limited to; handheld communications receivers, direction finding equipment and special purpose receivers.
Provide the latest software/firmware updates to the MSOC’s organic SIGINT equipment when available.
Possess an excellent understanding of in-theater enemy and friendly tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) with regards to SIGINT support to mounted, dismounted and air assault operations.
Assess the MSOT team leaders’ knowledge and understanding of SIGINT capability as briefed by their supporting SIGINT Marine.
Teach/Train SIGINT Marines by making spot corrections, providing “on-the-objective” evaluation and ensuring integration of SIGINT at the DST.
Provide verbal after action feedback to both the MSOC Direct Support Team (DST) and G-7 Exercise Control Group (ECG) and provide a written formal AAR within 10-days completion of the exercise.
Provide additional SIGINT equipment to augment the Special Collection Team (SCT) should they identify shortfalls in their equipment density lists (EDL). This may include but is not limited to; interrogation equipment, digital receivers and antenna materials.
Personnel Skills required for the Signals Intelligence SMEs include:
Greater than 10 years prior SOF or comparable experience to include recent and relevant experience conducting SIGINT in support of the GWOT/OCO.
Recent and relevant experience as tactical SIGINT collection team leader or manager.
Top Secret clearance with access to SCI.
Excellent verbal skills and ability to multi-task.
